The Uncertain Behavior of Clouds is a lecture performance examining the wonder and mystery of clouds and their role in shaping the future of our climate. As one of the greatest unknowns in climate science, clouds have long confounded predictions about the severity of global warming, making them a powerful symbol of uncertainty. Drawing on scientific research that models a future in which low-level clouds may disappear, this work explores the politics of atmospheric extinction via topics, including: nephology, representation, geoengineering, pareidolia, Earth observation satellites and data centers. Using image projection, performance, and sound, the work reflects on the political, environmental, and ethical dimensions of climate uncertainty—prompting audiences to consider what drifts above us and our collective responsibility.
